Glove Treatments.

Why do it?

Scenario - You buy a new expensive car. It’s dirty and needs an oil change. You do one of two things.

  1. You look bad in a dirty car and drive it until it fails you, which wouldn’t be very long.

  2. You take it to a professional for a car wash and oil change and enjoy that nice ride.

Maintenance is key, if you want to get the most out of your investment.

My glove treatments include deep cleaning, conditioning, and a complete relace.

Cleaning & Conditioning.

The goal is to maintain the gloves flexibility, durability, and strength. It is important to clean your glove, not only for sanitary reasons, but to prevent dirt build up and stains. Also, it is essential before conditioning. The conditioning application rejuvenates the leather and helps it from cracking, losing color, and to protect from further weather damage. It can also help in the break-in process to soften the leather.

Relace.

The purpose of a relace it to keep the gloves proper form. Over time the leather laces loosen, stretch, crack, and develop small tears. The laces play a significant role in the function of the glove. They hold everything together and take most of the beating.

This treatment done regularly will keep your glove in the game for years.

Baseballism said it best, “A baseball glove is one of the few gifts you can give a 6 year old, a 16 year old, or a 60 year old and have them all equally excited.”
