Regular Maintenance.

Other than your seasonal full treatment, it is important to maintenance your glove throughout the season!

Clean.

Cleaning your glove is essential to its life and longevity. The best way to routinely clean your glove is to remove dirt and grime with a dry brush or cloth.

It is important to use the DRY method because repeatedly wetting your glove will remove the protective oils from the leather. The oil keeps the leather flexible and durable.

Inspect.

After cleaning your glove, inspect the stitching and lacing. Throughout the season, your lacing can become loose and/or rip. The palm lacing is a thinner leather lace, which means they are more prone too breakage.

Store.

It’s automatic for most ball players to throw their glove in their bag after practice or a game. BUT it is very important not to leave the glove in the bag! You want to remove your glove from your bag and store it somewhere cool and dry. You do not want to store your glove in the heat because it will dry out the leather causing it to eventually crack.

One of the main reasons you want to store your glove in a cool, dry place is to air it out. Your hand is constantly in your glove, along with sweat and dirt. The mixture of sweat and prolonged suffocation can result to mold inside of your glove.
